Fire Protection supplied the Chesapeake Fire Department with 240 MSA G-1 SCBA units this year, and last week the Wavy 10 evening news captured Chesapeake firefighters putting them to the test. The segment even noted the importance of the iTIC component and EEBS (Emergency Escape Breathing System) to successfully navigate the structural collapse simulated in the empty Sentara Healthcare building. Challenges for the Chesapeake department include the various hazards found in most busy American cities, put a number of oil, natural gas, and other fuel storage facilities, making the enhancement of well-honed training with state-of-the-art technology all the more important.
